Powerful backup and recovery software for MSPs from Bacula Systems. Multi-tenant, highly scalable and customizable backup solution for MSPs and hosting companies.

MSPs, hosting companies and Cloud Providers need to be flexible, innovative and agile to attract and retain customers. Bacula helps MSPs to expand their business by providing ways to improve profits, widen services to customers, and protect against Ransomware.

As the Cloud computing industry develops, a wider range of industries are induced to use an ever-diverse range of Cloud services. To add to the issue, many IT environments have developed in an unsystematic, random manner, with their technologies increasingly isolated. This has resulted in architectures that require increasing resources to manage. Correspondingly, many backup software vendors are typically
inflexible, offer limited customization, encourage proprietary global systems and brazenly promote vendor lock-in.

Through its design, its depth and its licensing model, Bacula Enterprise backup and recovery software is structured to significantly contribute to solving this problem where data backup, recovery and disaster recovery are concerned, helping Cloud Providers to be more strategically fit and more competitive for the future. Below are listed just some of Bacula’s special features for MSPs:

Expand Your Offerings With BCloud Service

BCloud Service is a specialised feature for MSPs. It is a simple user-oriented web front-end for backup and recovery tasks. As a multi-tenant backup solution, it is designed to safely delegate straightforward and restricted backup administrator tasks to an end user that may not be required to have high level permissions or have access to the whole backup system. ISPs and web hosting companies can use BCloud Service to offer self-service backup, by enabling their own customers to easily create and manage their own backup jobs, restore files, do LDAP authentication and much more.

Benefit from Bacula’s Licensing Model for MSPs Offering Microsoft 365 and Google Workspace Backup and Recovery
Highly Scalable Backup for Microsoft 365 is available from Bacula to MSPs and large organizations for a fraction of the cost of other vendors. Its module for Microsoft 365 includes advanced granular backup and recovery capabilities for OneDrive, SharePoint Online, Exchange Online, OneNote and Calendar.

Deduplication

Global Endpoint Deduplication™ capabilities (from the client to the storage) or universal deduplication feature to maximize speed of cloud disaster recovery, minimize network bandwidth utilization and hardware investment

Compression

Communication line compression provides better performance between your data center and your customers, which makes managed backup faster. This feature allows users to to divide by 3 the volume of data transmitted across communication lines. Communication line compression can be disabled if preferred.

Advanced Layers of Security

Bacula Enterprise provides advanced security, monitoring and reporting tools beyond that of its peers, to protect your customers. Contact us for more details.

Bacula Supports Your Operating Systems

Bacula works hard to support ALL of your operating systems. It’s all part of the special Bacula Systems support services! Bacula even supports legacy operating systems such as AIX, Solaris, HP-UX, Windows XP and Windows 7. Contact us to find out how we can solve your challenges.

Client initiated backup and client initiated recovery

Client Initiated Backup feature adds to a huge breadth of functionality, bringing independence to end-users and enabling non-technical individuals to choose what data to backup and when regarding their own PC’s and laptops. This convenient feature facilitates higher levels of productivity and safety within an Enterprise or MSP. The Client Initiated Backup feature is easily accessed via the tray monitor, and provides a simple GUI for tray-monitor users to manage specific backup of their own data. Parameters include choosing the backup job, and specifying date and time. It is also possible to select the level of backup, selection of the client to backup from, the FileSet, Pool and priority settings.

Multi-Tenancy

Multi-tenancy is an important capability of Bacula’s data protection, principally designed for managed service providers. MSPs can operate far more efficiently with Bacula than other backup providers, by enabling them to monitor, view and manage backups across a huge number of customers and different data sources. This frees MSPs from mundane administrative tasks, and also allows MSPs to broaden their revenue generation offerings to customers.

Powerful Interfaces

Bacula Enterprise brings management flexibility to your backup system with a variety of options: simple command line or its powerful online interface — BWeb Management Suite. BWeb™ provides a multi-tenant backup management solution that saves time and resources. It brings simple backup and data recovery management, and enables Cloud providers and hosting companies to exploit the large-enterprise capabilities of Bacula Enterprise, with a wide range of features for deploying, managing, reporting, optimization and diagnostics. As a multi-tenant backup solution it also allows MSPs to give backup interfaces to customers with quota management and access management capabilities.

ROI

Bacula Enterprise has the ability to protect 10’000 or more servers managed by only one Bacula instance, which means Cloud providers and hosting companies can benefit from highly optimized ROI. Because hosting and Cloud companies are not helped by paying increasing costs with increasing data volume, Bacula does not charge by data volume, which enables organizations to grow data volume more freely as well as more readily forecast and budget future costs.

Some hosting companies choose certain types of servers to reduce the per-CPU fees their backup & restore vendor charges. To remove this constraint, Bacula’s pricing model is transparent — with no extra charges per CPU. So MSPs can just choose the servers that are right for their needs — freeing them to use as many additional CPUs as they want.

File Limitation Tools

Bacula’s File size and file number limitations provide better management of commercial backup as a service offerings.

Cloud Interface Connectivity

Bacula has native cloud integration, via the S3, S3-IA, Azure, Oracle Cloud, AWS and Google Cloud interfaces.

Suggested Action Items

  1. Seriously consider the sustainability of continuing to pay data volume-related licensing fees to your current vendor
  2. Appraise whether your current vendor’s software has the agility, modularity, stability and progressive technical road map that you need
  3. Assess your organization’s experiences with the vendors support team, and if it meets satisfactory levels
  4. Consider ROI on your backup and recovery solution, and the finance department’s ability to forecast its cost into the future, in view of your projected increase in data volume
  5. Define whether your backup and recovery software vendor presents the tools and processes needed for a dynamic, hybrid environment that is best suited for future needs
